Police responded to a call from a woman reporting a toddler alone in a vehicle in cold weather. The incident happened on 14 November, 2025 when the father of the 1-year-old went to the shop and left him alone in the car.

The police officers found the baby crying in the backseat of a black Mercedes. His father had left the windows slightly down, but the heat wasn’t on. He was cold and shivering. The officer used a lockout tool to open the door to rescue the child. The officer said, “Hi, buddy. It’s okay. You’re okay.” The officers called the medics. The officer said, “Smells like w**d. Obviously, the car is not running. Um, it was locked. Yeah, that’s what I was going to say. I unlocked and unbuckled him out of there.”

After a while, a medical team arrived at the scene to check on the baby and noted there were no medical concerns. It’s unclear how long the baby was alone in the car. The officers were about to start searching for the father.

Meanwhile, he reached out to the officers and identified himself as the father, and asked what was wrong. The officer explained the child was alone and crying in the car. The father replied, “I didn’t have a quarter, and I couldn’t hold him.” “I mean, do you realize like you literally left a one-year-old in the car, not running, windows open, it’s 40° outside?” the police officer slammed him.

He told him it was unacceptable to leave the child even for five minutes in the car. He pointed out, “You got a $1,000 phone, an expensive car, etc.” The father also told officers that he donated plasma, so his veins were painful. The officer appreciated that but still gave him a reality check: “That’s nice to donate, but you have 45 cents to get back. Can’t ask for change? Get a cart, put the kid in the cart, and then go shopping and get your quarter back?”

Officers charged him with child endangerment, and he had to appear in court on December 3, 2025. The officer also told him to stop smoking w**d in the car as they had smelled it earlier.

The bodycam video has over 35K views, and netizens didn’t hesitate to hold the father accountable. One viewer wrote, “So damn sick of people leaving children and pets alone in a car. So frustrating. Need actual jail time.”

The second one added, “This man carried his phone and left his child. Despicable.” “He could not hold his kid?????? Dude even came out with no grocery items, what a loser,” posted one more. Another viewer suggested, “Call CPS, tow the car, and arrest him.”
