Nokia Music is bringing its own brand of radio subscription service to users of Windows 8 supported desktops and Windows RT tablets.
The new Windows 8 desktop version of Nokia Music carries over the same functionality already offered to Windows 8 phone customers. Customers can listen to music that has been stored in the My Music area and choose various mixes created by the team at Nokia along with various musical artists.
Nokia Music for Windows 8 and Windows RT also brings with it recommended music mixes. The recommend feature makes suggestions for mixes based on what the user is listening to at the moment. Users can then listen to those mixes or even save them for offline listening at a later time.
Because users have extra storage space on their computers, they are also given access to more info about singers and bands, gigs, biographies, and even Twittter updates. The new app also offers high-resolution photographs from musicians.
For customers looking to take advantage of each controls, the Nokia Music player can be snapped to the side of the screen with minimal controls. Nokia Music can also be played across DLNA devices on a local network.
Nokia Music mixes are available to Windows 8 customers in the US, UK, Ireland, and Australia. Other countries will be able to take advantage of the mixes in the future.
Customers who already subscribe to Nokia Music+ service on their smartphones can log into the platform with their existing Nokia Music account.
Current mobile customers have free access to the Windows 8 and Windows RT application; new users can give the platform a trial at no cost for the first 7-days.
