Last month we saw “The Douche Burger” come in as the most expensive burger in the world at $666 , however a delectable desert has seemingly topped that coming in at $1,007 as the most expensive cupcake in the world, reports MSN.
“We are really excited to have unveiled the most expensive cupcake in the world,” said Vinay Lall, General Manager of the company that produces the cupcakes.
Aptly named the “Golden Phoenix,” this dessert made out of gold sheets can only be found at the Bloomsbury cupcake shop which is conveniently located in the Dubai Mall. Bloomsbury began offering the sweet treat for sale this past Thursday to any consumer willing to spend the cash.
In addition to being made with 23-carat edible gold sheets, this high-priced cupcake is said to be made using only organic flour and butter imported from the UK, Italian chocolate and vanilla beans from Uganda. The cupcake is served along a golden spoon, topped with chocolate icing and strawberries dipped in edible gold, all on top of a 24-carat gold stand.
“We have seen people attempt expensive cupcakes before, however, those are not edible as they are incrusted with diamonds and other components.
“That is why we decided that we would take the realistic approach and present the most expensive edible cupcake in the world.”
According to The National , Bloomsbury only requests that you give them a 48-hour notice before arriving to pick up your “Golden Phoenix”, allowing them enough time to perfectly prepare your treat.
