All John Ernest Cross wanted was to see someone do Michael Jackson’s famous moonwalk. The 30-year-old from Clark Fork, Idaho, has been charged with felony assault for allegedly ordering another man to “moonwalk” at gunpoint.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that Sheriff’s deputies were called out to Cross’ home on Monday after they had received a report that Cross had been using drugs. When they arrived, Cross had a rifle pointed at another man and was demanding to see some moonwalking.
Cross said during his initial court appearance that he was using an Airsoft pellet gun. The probable cause affidavit, however, describes the weapon as an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle.
Judge Barbara Buchanan sustained Cross’ $20,000 bail and has ordered a public defender to take the case. Cross was also barred from contacting the alleged reluctant moonwalker.
The moonwalk was made famous by Michael Jackson in the 1980s and is now one of the best known dance moves in the world. The move has been performed by musicians like Cab Calloway, David Bowie, and James Brown.
Sadly, the move isn’t used too often today. In fact, the only surefire way to fix a moonwalk craving is by pointing a gun at your friend’s head. (Please don’t force anyone to moonwalk at gunpoint.)
