Missing Indiana Student Case: Lauren Spierer’s Disappearance Related To Hannah Wilson’s Killer?

From the archive: published Jun 4, 2015, 11 years ago. Details may have changed since.

The missing Indiana student case for Lauren Spierer may seem cold, but her parents are asking the world help with finding any potential leads. Some believe it is possible that Hannah Wilson’s killer, 49-year-old Daniel Messel, may also be related to the four-year-old missing student case.

In a related report by the Inquisitr, the similarities between the earlier missing Indiana student case and Hannah Wilson are hard to miss. Both Lauren and Hannah disappeared after a night of drinking and partying that ended at Kilroy’s Bar. In both cases, the women were highly intoxicated, although Lauren walked home barefoot and Hannah disappeared after allegedly being put into a cab to be sent home.

Hannah’s body was found 10 miles from Indiana University, so it was presumed the other missing Indiana student case might be linked. It was feared that a serial killer might be targeting young women who came from the same bar. In fact, authorities were also looking for possible connections in Lauren Spierer’s case to murder suspect Clyde Gibson, a serial killer who has been convicted in the deaths of at least three Indiana women.

Police in Bloomington are still investigating any possible connections, but so far authorities do not have any evidence to tie Hannah Wilson’s killer to the other missing Indiana student case. Lauren Spierer’s parents filed a civil lawsuit against some of the people believe to have been with their daughter on that fateful night, but the case is being appealed after a judge dismissed the lawsuit.

Robert and Charlene Spierer also recently wrote a Facebook page message where they appealed to everyone for any information on the missing Indiana student’s case.

“Someone once asked me how it feels like to be the parent of a missing child. It is indescribable. The nightmare you never wake up from. Spend a moment with your son or daughter today, something we have all taken for granted. How many times have you thought of something you forgot to say and decided it could wait until tomorrow? Now imagine you get up tomorrow and that person is gone. No warning. Without one last conversation, without one last kiss, without one last hug, text, email, telephone call. No chance to tell them how much you love them ever again. Just gone, as if they never existed. It doesn’t sound like reality. Surely it can’t be true. You may think this could never happen to you, but we are living proof, it can.”

Lauren Spierer’s family says they will never stop investigating the missing Indiana student’s case. If anyone knows anything, they ask that you call the Bloomington Police Department at 812.339-4477 or email [email protected].
