Former beauty queen Kumari Fulbright has been sentenced to two years in prison after she was convicted of kidnapping and torturing a former boyfriend.
28-year-old Fulbright also received six months of probation after she copped a guilty plea for conspiracy to commit kidnapping and aggravated assault. Police say Fulbright instigated the drawn out incident by telling a boyfriend the ex-boyfriend, Joshua Conway, had stolen jewelry given to her when she had actually given Conway the pieces to sell:
Fulbright lured Conway to her apartment on Dec. 8, 2007, and (Robert) Ergonis and David Radde jumped him, the prosecutors said. Another man, Larry Hammond, helped to detain him. Conway was beaten, cut with a knife and held at gunpoint for hours until he was able to escape.
The judge also ordered Fulbright to pay $15,000 in restitution in the case. Ergonis, who was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated robbery, was acquitted on a second count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Sentencing in that case is set for next week.
