John C. Reilly is rumored to be up for a role in Guardians of the Galaxy .
The Step Brothers star is reportedly being eyed for the character Rhomann Dey in the James Gunn’s big screen adaptation of the Marvel comic book. For those who haven’t read the books, Dey is essentially the go-between for the Guardians and the folks at S.H.I.E.L.D.
ScreenRant reports that John C. Reilly is currently being courted by Marvel for Guardians of the Galaxy . However, nothing about his involvement has been confirmed by anybody associated with the film. Although studio reportedly wants the actor for the gig, he hasn’t signed on for the role just yet.
If Reilly decides to take the part, then he could find himself in a number of different Marvel projects. The character is being described as the “Agent Coulson” of the Guardians flick, which means he may travel between different movies going forward.
The Magnolia star’s rumored participation with the project isn’t the only news coming down the pipeline this week. According to HitFix , writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are being brought in to give the script a bit of polish. Apparently Gunn thinks there is still some work that needs to be done on the story.
The website also reports that Drew Pearce was almost hired to give the script a little shine. For those who don’t spend too much time worrying about who’s writing what, Pearce collaborated with Shane Black on the script for Iron Man 3 . However, the job ultimately went to Markus and McFeely.
Guardians of the Galaxy currently sports a number of talents actors and actresses. If Reilly boards the project, then he will be joined by Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, and Lee Pace. The film is slated to open on August 1, 2014.
