David Tennant Rumored For ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

David Tennant is rumored to be up for a role in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The former Dr. Who star is reportedly up for the part of Rocket Raccoon. Although other roles are being filled at a rapid pace, this particular character has yet to be cast.

Earlier reports suggested that James Gunn and producers at Marvel Studios were considering Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler for the Guardians of the Galaxy role. While they may still be in consideration, it would appear that David Tennant is in the running as well.

The folks at Marvel Cinematic Universe are responsible for getting this rumor out and about online. Since James Gunn hasn’t addressed the issue in an official capacity, it’s best to treat this as nothing more than rampant internet speculation for the time being.

While it’s currently unclear if David Tennant is seriously being considered for Rocket Raccoon, other roles have already been cast. Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt will portray Star-Lord in the flick, while Walking Dead alum Michael Rooker will tackle Yondu.

Star Trek Into Darkness star Zoe Saldana has been tapped for the role of Gamora. Although Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace has also been cast in Guardians of the Galaxy as the villain, it’s unknown which character he will play. As always, more information will likely surface as production begins.

Regardless of who ends up starring in the flick, it’s sure to be an interesting cinematic experience. James Gunn is a wonderful director, and it will be interesting to see what he does with a mainstream property. The director’s previous efforts include Super, Slither starring Michael Rooker, and the low-budget Troma classic Tromeo & Juliet.

Are you looking forward to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy? Do you think David Tennant is right for the role of Rocket Raccoon?
