The 8.9-magnitude earthquake that hit Japan on Thursday night has brought mini tsunami sized waves to the US mainland and Hawaii.
According to reports, waves began to surge slightly along the northern coast of California and before the day is over could reach as high as seven feet. Also experiencing higher than normal water levels was Oregon.
Earlier in the day the waves moved through the Hawaiian islands with Maui experiencing water up to seven feet tall and Oahu and Kauai experiencing three-feet waves with larger surges expected later in the day.
Thankfully no injuries or major damage has been reported since U.S. cities had hours to prepare for the tsunami, preparations which included evacuating beaches and roads, while moving tourists to higher floors to protect them from the Tsunami.
Surfers in California not only did not evacuate, they took advantage of the larger than normal surf.
