With Israel and Iran bombing each other, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu made a shocking claim during his interview with Fox News’s Brett Baier. On Sunday, in the course of the interview, Netanyahu claimed that it was Iran behind the two failed assassination attempts on American President Donald Trump.
Elaborating on his claim, Netanyahu said, “These people who chant, ‘Death to America,’ tried to assassinate President Trump twice.” He further added, “Do you want these people to have nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them to your cities? Of course not. So we’re defending ourselves, but we’re also defending the world.”

While his comments came in regards to Israel massively bombing Iran, given the shocking nature of it, the host Baier asked Netanyahu to further explain what he meant by his claims. Baier asked, “You just said Iran tried to assassinate President Trump twice. Do you have intel that the assassination attempts on President Trump were directly from Iran?”
To this, Netanyahu replied, “Through proxies, yes. Through their intel, yes. They want to kill him.” It should be noted that with the same certainty, the President himself, had previously mentioned in a speech in September that it was Iran behind the attempts on his life.
While Trump made this claim, he did not provide any further proof to support what he said and Iranian authorities had also denied having any links with those assassination attempts.

Netanyahu seemed like Trump while making these allegations towards Iran and further added that he is also one of their targets. The Israeli PM said, “Look, they also tried to kill me, but I’m his junior partner. They understand that President Trump is a great threat to Iran’s plans to weaponize nuclear weapons and use them.”
Talking more on why Iran would be keen to assassinate Trump, Netanyahu said, “He’s a decisive leader. He never took the path that others took to try to bargain with them in a way that is weak, giving them basically a pathway to enrich uranium, which means a pathway to the bomb, padding it with billions and billions of dollars.”

He further added, “He took up this fake agreement and basically tore it up. He killed Qasem Soleimani. He made it very clear, including now, ‘You cannot have a nuclear weapon, which means you cannot enrich uranium.’ He’s been very forceful, so for them, he’s enemy number one.”
As the situation between Israel and Iran keeps escalating, it now remains to be seen what impact Netanyahu words further have on the already tense condition.
