An Asian airline has added three Hello Kitty-themed Airbus A330-300 aircrafts to its fleet, in a bid to capture the lucrative market of … er, nine-year-old Japanese female frequent flyers?

If you’re not familiar with Hello Kitty, this juggernaut of a cartoon franchise has been huge throughout most of Asia, but particularly Japan, since its creation in 1974.

Its star is the eponymous Kitty, whose face has appeared on everything from dishes to TVs to feather dusters to lunchboxes to suitcases to … well, now whole airplanes .

Taiwan’s Eva Air is now offering customers the complete Hello Kitty experience, with everything from check-in to meals based on the sickly sweet cartoon kitten.

Eva Air’s three Hello Kitty-themed planes fly between cities such as Taipei, Fukuoka, Narita, Sapporo, Incheon, Hong Kong and Guam. They’re a collaboration between the airline and Sanrio, the Japanese company that created and owns the Hello Kitty brand.

The Hello Kitty flight experience begins with the pink self-service counters at check-in. Boarding passes are on message, as is everything on the plane, from accessories worn by the stewardesses to headrest covers to desserts. Even the in-flight meals have salmon bows and Hello Kitty shaped cantaloupe.
