Long before Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton started dating, they chose to settle down in totally different parts of the country. Gwen and her then-husband, Gavin Rossdale, bought a huge house in Beverly Hills, while Blake and his then-wife, Miranda Lambert, purchased some secluded property in Oklahoma. There’s talk that Gwen and Blake plan on getting married in the near future, and their home base locations have sparked rumors that the singers are fighting over where they’ll live after they tie the knot. However, according to a recent report, Gwen and Blake aren’t letting their complicated living situation ruin their Hollywood romance.
In Touch Weekly recently claimed that Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s picture-perfect romance has hit a major hurdle. According to the tabloid, the couple is arguing over which state they’ll call home if they get married.
“Where they are going to live has become an issue,” a purported insider said.
The source alleged that Blake wants Gwen and her four sons—Kingston (10), Zuma (8), and Apollo (2)—to ditch their posh home in California for his ranch in Oklahoma, but Gwen Stefani doesn’t want to take her kids away from their father, their friends, and their school.
“Gwen’s told Blake she’d be OK moving out of Beverly Hills and into a nearby place like Hidden Hills, which is known as horse country because of its sprawling ranches,” the source said. “But Blake argues that it would still be California.”
A rep for Gwen Stefani has already informed Gossip Cop that there’s absolutely no truth to the In Touch Weekly report, but there are probably still plenty of Shefani fans out there who are wondering where Gwen and Blake will eventually decide to settle down.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gwen promised talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that she’ll let her know when she and Blake pick a wedding date . In other words, Gwen pretty much confirmed that the Shefani wedding is going to happen.
There are rumors that Gwen and Blake are talking about getting married on his ranch in Oklahoma, but Gwen and her kids may not be able to move there after Blake becomes the boys’ stepdad. According to the California Judicial Branch website, Gavin Rossdale could prevent Gwen and their sons from leaving the state of California permanently.
“If the parents have joint physical custody of the children and 1 parent does not want the child to move, the parent that wants to move with the children must show the court that the move is in the best interest of the children,” the website reads.
Gwen and the kids may not be allowed to move to Oklahoma, but Gavin clearly hasn’t banned his sons from visiting Blake’s home. As People reports, Gwen and the boys were just there last month. Blake taught Apollo how to drive a tractor, and the older kids went exploring on Blake’s ATVs. Kingston also got to hitch a ride on Blake’s tractor.
Because Gwen and the kids spend so much time in Oklahoma, Blake Shelton reportedly decided to build a “Hawaiian-style” house for them to stay in whenever they come visit. According to the Daily Mail , the blue and white building and smaller surrounding bungalows with thatched roofs are a wedding gift for Gwen . The estate overlooks lake Texoma, and it includes a pool with a tiki bar that guests can swim right up to.
If the house really was supposed to be a wedding gift, Blake decided to give it to Gwen early. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the couple likely spent Labor Day weekend celebrating the completion of the island-themed getaway. The Instagram photo below is evidence that they spent the night in the new house.
The debunked In Touch report claimed that Blake is resistant to the idea of settling down in California, but he already spends a ton of time there because of his coaching job on The Voice . According to Hollywood Life , Blake is currently renting a house in Beverly Hills to crash in while he shoots the show.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have already proved that their love for two different states isn’t an issue. Their lives actually wouldn’t change much at all if they bought a new place in California and occasionally visited Blake’s ranch, so fans shouldn’t worry about this made-up problem preventing Gwen and Blake from getting hitched.
