Giraffe Chases Tourists Driving Jeep [Video]

A video has emerged of safari tourists being hounded down by a ferocious giraffe during a trek in South Africa, and it is eerily reminiscent of a scene from Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park.

It would appear that the animal became discombobulated and flustered by the tourist’s proximity to it, and so to show its discontent it simply decided to give chase to the jeep that were all inside.

It was at this point that one of the party decided to whip out their iPhone to capture the incident, as well as the rather amusing and panic stricken faces of those in the back seats.

A female passenger can be seen instructing the driver to speed up as the gigantic giraffe begins to close down on the automobile. The blonde woman becomes more and more agitated as the 48 seconds progresses shouting at the animal, whilst clutching onto the back of the van.

She even attempts to duck down behind her seat as the giraffe gets closer and closer to the frightened tourist, but as the track becomes more and more windy and precarious it soon abandons its pursuit. You can watch a video of the chase above.

Henk Roos, a passneger in the car who also recorded the ordeal, told 9News, they were touring the park after a wedding, stating, “After about 5km of being chased I started recording the chase on my phone. You can see how he gets closer and closer after every turn. We started to run out of road and the ranger banged on the side of the jeep to scare him off. We started to make a noise and he stopped.”

The giraffe appears to lose interest though and simply wanders off at the end of the video. Earlier this year a 2 minute and 24 second video showing two male giraffes fighting went viral, as they fought for supremacy in a mating territory.
