Can you have too many shoes? Penny Gold, a 63-year-old Converse collector in Florida believes that she has a record breaking collection of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars.
And Gold has good reason to believe that she’s owns more Converse All Stars than any other person on earth. The current record holder has 402 pairs of shoes. Gold says that her collection numbers more than 700.
But before Gold can collect her Converse record, the people at the Guinness Book of World Records will have to count and verify her collection. Fox reports that Gold and a team of family and friends have been counting, documenting, and taking pictures of her Converse collection.
Gold said:
“We have tally sheets and we have six to seven people that will be the official counters.”
The report will be sent to England where the team at Guinness will verify, and most likely, name Gold the new Converse record holder. Gold said that she expects to be in the next issue of the Guinness Book of World Records, which will be out in 2013.
According to Chucksconnection.com, the Converse Chuck Taylor is the most popular basketball shoe of all-time. A new pair of Air Jordan’s may cause a riot , but the Chuck Taylor has been around for more than fifty years.
