Sneaker Junkies Pepper Sprayed Over New Air Jordans

The new Air Jordans are here and that can only mean one thing… riots, broken store windows, and pepper spray. A group of rowdy Seattle sneaker junkies were pepper sprayed today by police after the crowd got out of control in anticipation of the new shoes.

The Huffington Post reports that a group of about 20 people were pepper sprayed today in Seattle after several fights broke out at the Westfield Southcenter mall in the suburbs of Seattle.

Tukwila Officer Mike Murphy said:

“Around 3 (a.m.) there started to be some fighting and pushing among the customers. Around 4, it started to get pretty unruly and officers sprayed pepper spray on a few people who were fighting, and that seemed to do the trick to break them up.”

Murphy said that officers found liquor bottles and smelled marijuana throughout the crowd. Murphy said:

“It was not a nice orderly group of shoppers. There were a lot of hostile and disorderly people.”

The Air Jordan 11 Retro Concords also caused violence in Atlanta. At least four people were arrested in the frenzy at a shopping mall in an Atlanta suburb. Officers said that they escorted several people out of the store but that only a few were arrested.

TMZ reports that the new Air Jordans have also caused fights in Washington, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
