Police responded to a 911 call in Seminole County, Florida, on May 16, 2023. The caller was distraught and panicking after seeing his childhood best friend stuck under a car.
The 20-year-old took his mom’s new Porsche to show off to his best friend. The drive quickly ended in the vehicle flipping over and trapping his friend under it. Within seconds, the car was on fire, and there was no way he could have managed to help his friend.
Identified as Zachary Kreusch, he was driving the vehicle with his friend, who asked him to drive fast. He wanted to see how fast the vehicle could go. It was a reckless decision to drive the Porsche 718 Boxster S on a road with a curve. Kreusch lost control of the vehicle and later lost his friend to it.
When the police arrived at the scene, he was crying and full of guilt. The bodycam video showed him in a state of helplessness. He said, “I’ve known since [him] kindergarten. What am I going to tell his parents?”
He did not lie about anything, as the police confirmed the whole story with other people who gave him the phone to call 911. He took full responsibility for his actions and was more shaken by the loss of his friend.
The emergency responders tried to get his friend out of the vehicle, but the flames were too strong. They had to wait for the firefighters and additional units to put out the fire. The passenger, identified as 20-year-old Dylan Charles Astacio, was pronounced dead. Kreusch was charged with vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony, and careless driving. He is under probation until 2040.

Another one added, “He’s gonna see that burning car in the middle of that empty field every time he closes his eyes for the rest of his life. Incomprehensible guilt.” One more posted, “It was refreshing to hear him take responsibility right away. I don’t believe he even considered lying like most kids we see in this scenario.”
