Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been faced with nearly endless divorce rumors for the past several months, but sources close to the couple are now saying they may actually be able to work through their problems and avoid a split.
The problems have reportedly stemmed from a number of factors, including Ellen’s controlling ways. There are reports that she has exerted strict control over Portia’s career, even going so far as to tell her wife what acting roles she is allowed to take. This has created quite a bit of tension, and was reportedly the major factor in pushing Portia back into drinking, which led to a rehab trip earlier this year.
But now the couple appears to be regaining their footing. This week they reached their sixth wedding anniversary , which Portia celebrated by surprising Ellen with the word “six” spelled out in the sky thanks to a sky writer.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have even leaned on their friends for support. Sources said Portia turned to longtime friend Jennifer Aniston for help during their rough times, and that Jen turned into a sort of counselor for Portia and Ellen.
The source told the National Enquirer , “After Portia got out of rehab, Jen reached out to her and they’ve been in close touch ever since. The joke among Jen’s friends is that she should charge a fee for her counseling. They call her “Mama Jen” because she’s a nurturer and caretaker to everyone.”
The source added that Jennifer Aniston has been a huge help in allowing Portia de Rossi to vent.
“Jeniffer has listened for hours as Portia poured out her heart over the issues she and Ellen are grappling with, including fighting over whether to have a baby and how to deal with Ellen’s jealousy,” the source added.
But Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly throwing herself into saving the marriage as well. Other sources say she gave up drinking entirely after Portia de Rossi left rehab, and is determined to do whatever it takes to keep her wife from leaving. If the latest reports are true, it seems to be working.
