A group of drug users in North Carolina have found themselves behind bars as they misdialed their dealer by one digit to complain about the drugs they received. That one digit placed them on the receiving end of a North Carolina police officer’s cell phone who promptly set up a sting.
According to the Salisbury Post , Sandra Davis of Statesville, North Carolina made repeated calls at 4 a.m. to Deputy Jagger Naves of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department demanding that he make right the bad drugs that he sold her and her friend, 50 year-old Henry Cloer. The only problem was that the number they thought they were calling was supposed to be their dealer, and not the deputy.
The woman called four separate times trying to reach her dealer, leaving a voicemail on the last attempt.
“This isn’t even a $10 rock. You need to make this right!” she yelled into the phone.
Awakening after the fourth call, Deputy Naves then alerted the authorities to handle the situation, even calling the number back to inform them that he was actually a police officer and that they had the wrong number.
Despite his warning, Davis called back a fifth time, asking if they could meet up to fix the problem. Not passing up the opportunity to land the woman behind bars, Naves agreed and contacted the police to let them know when and where he would be meeting her.
The officers ended up meeting the disgruntled drug addicts and placed them under arrest for the drugs that they possessed as well as the paraphernalia they had in the car.
While searching the suspects, one of their phones began to ring and displayed a phone number that was on digit off from Deputy Nave’s number. Once again taking the opportunity, police answered the call and met up with the actual drug dealer, arresting him as well.
According to MSN , four people in all were arrested from their involvement over one missed digit in a phone number.
