DoorDash customers slammed the delivery drivers on social media for stealing orders on more than one occasion. One user posted a video of a DoorDash driver who placed the package on the porch and then took a photo as proof of delivery.

In the video, the package appeared to be attached to a string, which the driver allegedly pulled back after taking the delivery photo. Social media users alleged that the tactic could be used to make it appear an order had been delivered before removing it.

Other alleged scams discussed online include submitting false delivery reports, unassigning orders after picking them up, and using fraudulent accounts.

Several DoorDash users have similar experiences with the customer support, despite reporting the incident and providing proof that the platform does not refund the full amount. They may get a small refund; however, it may not be close to the spending amount. A customer posted the screenshot of the chat to share a similar experience.

In a Reddit post, a user asked, “How common is it for drivers to steal food?” They got the refund, but ended up being doubtful of the platform. On the other hand, a DoorDash driver commented on the platform, “Customers have done it to me as a dasher, said they never got it, and I handed it to them, so I mean it’s a normal occurrence for DD im sure.”

Another Reddit user chimed in, “It goes both ways. I handed someone their wings and fries once, and she asked where the drink was. I showed her there was no drink on the order; it was a cheap 6-boneless wings and fry deal. The next day, I had a contract violation for never delivering the order.”

So the issue goes beyond the application, and the user experience will entirely depend on the people who are hired for the job. Meanwhile, a DooDasher may also end up getting reported despite delivering the order.
