Donald Trump is no stranger to eyebrow-raising gaffes, but his latest slip-up on the golf course may have just thrown his wife Melania under the bus, and fans aren’t letting it slide. And of course, the martial rift chatter that had been going on, finds another point to build on.
In a clip that’s now making the rounds on social media, the president landed himself in hot water over a questionable comment involving his golfing buddy, Bryson DeChambeau, and his own wife.
Trump: “My wife says, ‘Are you as long as Bryson?’ I said, ‘Yeah, sort of. Pretty close. It’s not close.’” pic.twitter.com/jczaGFNdnq

“We play golf a lot together. It’s not a very pleasant experience for me ’cause I always consider myself a reasonably long hitter, and then I play with him,” Trump said of his games with DeChambeau. What he said next was enough to ignite a discussion among X users: “My wife says, ‘Are you as long as Bryson?’ I said, ‘Yeah, sort of. Pretty close. It’s not close.'”
The innuendo wasn’t lost on viewers. One user joked, “Are ….. we . …… still talking about golf?” Another slammed Trump for being crass. “Disrespects his own wife by implying they have those kinds of intimate conversations on the size of… oh I’m sorry he was talking about his tee shot.”
No way she even asked him that

The president’s bromance with the golf champ is well documented; from hitting the green in summer 2024 to DeChambeau’s June 1 visit to the White House, they do share a warm association. However, at this point, critics are more interested in what this moment says about Trump’s marriage. “Wow, Melania wants to know how long Bryson is!? I guess those rumors of a major rift between Trump and ol’ Melania are true,” one person sniped.
Another comment read, “His wife never asked him that. Also who is Bryson.”
Others were less amused and more outraged. “This is just inappropriate,” one user commented. “I so miss a president who knows how to behave with decorum in public.” One of the other hilarious comments read, “Like his wife even speaks to him unless she’s paid…”
DeChambeau himself has spoken highly of Trump, telling Fox & Friends in April 2025, “He loves golf. I think he’s such a great ambassador for the game of golf and for diplomacy, in general.” Trump, in turn, praised the idea of a merger between PGA Tour and LIV Golf, showing he’s got strong opinions about the future of the sport.
But as the political heat rises, so does public scrutiny of Trump’s priorities, especially his frequent tee times. “Wow. So much to unpack here. But let’s just start with the fact Trump is once again playing golf,” one user fumed. Another put it bluntly: “5 months in [to his second term] 1 month just golfing.”
This is just inappropriate. I so miss a president who knows how to behave with decorum in public.

Looks like the only thing longer than Trump’s drive might be the list of his controversies.

The couple’s body language in different public appearances have people convinced that their marriage is messy behind closed doors.

On May 19th, the POTUS signed the Take it Down Act; the new law which protects people from AI deep-fakes usually targeting families and children.
