The debate on electoral rules and regulations continues to be dominated by Donald Trump, who always manages to make election process issues into events that attract public attention. Trump’s bold legislative proposals and his dramatic utterances keep his supporters and detractors always on red alert. The rules are numerous and complex, but Trump’s style always ensures that his announcements are attention-grabbing.

President Donald Trump is stepping up his campaign for electoral reform through the SAVE America Act, which is a revised version of last year’s Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act that passed in the House but stalled in the Senate. President Trump has made electoral fraud a central part of his campaign.

The bill will require states to allow regular access to voter rolls for the Department of Homeland Security, enforce strict voter ID laws, and require voters to provide comprehensive proof of citizenship. It has been said that President Trump’s approach to language has been criticized for altering the way that people use English as they try to rally support behind this bill.

The SAVE America Act website explains that “American citizens—and only American citizens—should decide American elections.” On Sunday, President Donald Trump, 79, repeated a word that he seemed to invent last week when he wrote on Truth Social: “No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our precious children.” The remark was part of a strong expression of his views.

The Senate voted 49-41 against Republican-backed amendments to the SAVE America Act last week. The amendments would prohibit transgender athletes from participating in girls’ or women’s sports and would prohibit educational programs funded by the government from sponsoring sports programs for transgender girls/women. President Trump wrote on his social media on March 17: “No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our Children.”

This is a common post by President Trump on his social media platform Truth Social. President Trump also uses similar phrases such as “transgender mutilation” and “mutilation surgery.” It is unclear if this is intentional or a mistake.

The SAVE America Act will impose more burdens on voters by requiring that they appear in person to vote and that they be United States citizens. This will impose an extra burden on women who have taken their husband’s surname after marriage. Trump ordered Republicans on Sunday to refuse to negotiate with Democrats during the government shutdown until the bill passes.

The government shutdown has already impacted operations at the federal government and at airports. Trump opposed the $5 billion funding cut to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, unless the bill passed. He ordered Senate Majority Leader John Thune to determine which Republicans voted against the bill.

In an effort to ensure the passage of his bill, President Trump suggested that lawmakers might need to remain in Washington, D.C., during the Easter holiday. The statement followed a Sunday phone interview with NewsNation, during which he referenced ongoing talks in which some politicians were exploring funding individual sections of the Department of Homeland Security, including the TSA, amid continuing negotiations.

Essential workers at the TSA have dealt with the shutdown by working without pay. This has caused many to resign or call in sick, resulting in huge delays at airports. President Donald Trump, speaking to NewsNation reporter Hannah Brandt in a phone interview, said that Democrats are eager to make a deal, but he believes that no deal should be made until the SAVE America Act is passed.

President Trump was asked to comment on his recent order to deploy ICE agents to airports to manage lines at TSA checkpoints. President Trump assured that they would stay in those positions until the issue was solved. On Sunday, President Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, told CNN that the deployment of ICE agents would commence on Monday and that it was a step to assist TSA in completing its task in an efficient manner while adhering to all security checks.
