Last month, on April 27, 2025, a video posted by the White House to celebrate Melania Trump’s birthday quickly caught attention for all the wrong reasons. The short clip caught a noticeably uncomfortable moment between Donald Trump and Melania.
The clip shows the pair initially walking in opposite directions before uniting for a stiff kiss at the helipad, standing at arm’s length.

As per The List, The White House captioned the post, ‘Find someone who looks at you the way POTUS looks at FLOTUS.’ However, rather than the sweet moment coming off as warm and affectionate, it looked awkward and off. Moreover, online fans made sure to address that with blunt comments.
“May this type of love never find me, cause what was that?” one user wrote. Another quipped, “Honey, please, just 30 more seconds for the cameras. Please kiss me to make it look like we’re a real couple.” In addition, body language expert and celebrity love coach Nicole Moore spoke to The List and shared her thoughts on the viral moments between the pair.
According to Moore, the beginning of the clip shows Donald Trump placing a hand on Melania’s back as she swiftly moves away. In addition, Moore observed that the first lady’s stiff body language and the way she dismissed Donald Trump’s touch showcased a lack of closeness between the couple.
Meanwhile, in another moment, Donald Trump waves at the press while his wife walks off between them. “Her body language is signaling a desire to keep herself separate—perhaps even protected—from Donald,” Moore noted.
Overall, there was a stark lack of intimacy between the two. Towards the end of the video, Moore added, “Both Donald and Melania kept their bodies stiff while leaning in and deliberately kept space between them,” Moore explained. “It’s a sign they’re functioning more as individuals than as a united couple.
This incident is not the first time that Donald Trump and the First Lady have grabbed the headlines for their awkward media moments. Earlier, on several occasions, like the inaugural ceremony in January 2025, dozens of public events have speculated about how the couple has zero chemistry. Moreover, these instances have even led to potential divorce tales between them.

Melania, as we all know, isn’t interested in playing the traditional first lady role, as she wishes to spend more time with her son and keep family as her priority.
