An unexpected phone call between a Black man and his ex-girlfriend of 20 years is making rounds on social media. The video posted by the YouTube channel Divorce Crib on June 9 has amassed more than 200,000 views, though the authenticity cannot be independently verified.
In the video, a man named Lonnie calls his ex-girlfriend, whom he has not spoken to in two decades. He opens the call with, “Hey, baby girl. How’s it going?” to which the woman replies, “Who the hell is this calling me baby girl?” After he introduces himself, she responds, “A minute? Damn, like 20 years. What are you doing calling me?”
Lonnie then explains that he believes they may have a serious problem and goes on to ask whether she has a 20-year-old son, specifically the child she was pregnant with when the last time they spoke to each other.
He asks, “You got a 20-year-old son, right? The one that you were pregnant with when, um, the last time we talked?”
The question comes as both were in other relationships at the time, leaving paternity unclear. The woman pushes back, saying, “Uh, it’s been 20 years. You weren’t concerned then; there’s no need to be concerned now.”
He explains what prompted the call, saying, “The only reason why I asked you wasn’t mine because we were each other’s side piece. That’s the only reason why I asked that question. But, here we are 20 years later, and I need to find out if that’s my son or not.”
He adds that his adult daughter recently introduced him to a young man whom she had been dating for a year. When Lonnie met him and asked about his family, the boyfriend showed him a photo of his family, which included Lonnie’s ex-girlfriend. He now suspects his daughter may unknowingly be dating her half-brother.
“The reason why I want to know now is that my daughter came to me and told me after a year she’d been dealing with this dude and she wanted me to meet him. So, I’m like, ‘All right, cool,’” he says in the video.
Lonnie demands a DNA test, with the woman neither confirming or denying, saying she herself is not certain who the father is. The video ends without resolution
Netizens flooded the comments with mixed reactions. A viewer commented, “No DNA test needed. Judging by her reaction, he is your son.”

One viewer could not believe the coincidence and noted, “Lol. This is a skit for sure. This is the same guy that had to give up his seat to the real dad at the stepdaughter’s graduation. Lol. Ain’t no way this guy is that unlucky. I call BS.” Many people suggested that cheating on a spouse and then having someone else’s child in that marriage was not a good thing.
