, lead singer and guitarist for the popular punk band Green Day , was kicked off a Southwest Airlines flight Thursday apparently because his pants were “sagged too low.”

While situations like these normally turn into a he-said-she-said ordeal, with the true details usually lost , this particular incident was luckily witnessed by a neutral bystander, KGO-TV Channel 7 producer Cindy Qiu.

According to Qiu, shortly before the plane was set to take off a flight walked over to Armstrong and asked him to pick up his pants, to which the 39-year-old singer replied:

“Don’t you have better things to do then worry about that?”

The flight attendant then repeated her request and threatened to have him removed from the plane if he did not comply, at which point Armstrong quickly shot back:

“I’m just trying to get to my [expletive] seat.”

Following his removal, Armstrong took to Twitter and posted: “Just got kicked of a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low… No Joke!”

Although it’s still unclear why Billy Joe’s drooping bottoms became an issue for the Southwest flight crew, a spokesman for the airline said the company apologized for the incident and booked the singer on the next flight out.

“We followed up with this customer and involved employees to get more details and, in our latest conversations, understand from the customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction,” spokesman Brad Hawkins said.
