For foreigners who want to invest $5 million, US President Donald Trump has opened a waitlist website for the newest immigration program, the Trump Card, which grants permanent residency in the US. Notably, US citizenship is not guaranteed by this substantial $5 million expenditure.
In an interview with reporters in February, Trump explained that he does not require congressional approval to grant a gold card since it does not confer citizenship, but it is a “strong path for citizenship”. Trump did not, however, elaborate on how the gold card will serve as a route to citizenship. Trump clarified that he would want congressional approval to ensure U.S. citizenship.
Being a lawful permanent resident for at least five years is a prerequisite for naturalization, which is currently one of the most popular ways to get US citizenship. The candidate must be at least eighteen years old, possess “good moral character,” and be able to read, write, and speak basic English according to their age group.
Mr. President declared the opening of the Trump Card waiting website on Thursday. The “Trump Card,” a gold card with an image of Donald Trump, is shown on the website.

He posted, “FOR FIVE MILLION $DOLLARS, THE TRUMP CARD IS COMING!” on his official Truth Social handle. Thousands of people have been phoning to inquire about how to register to ride a stunning road that will get them access to the world’s greatest country and market. It’s called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! THE WAITING LIST IS NOW OPEN. To sign up, go to TRUMPCARD.GOV.”
While describing the benefits of the gold card, Donald said, “We’re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million, and that’s going to give you green card privileges, plus it’s going to be a route to citizenship.”
Trump: “We’re gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. He further added, “Wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card,” the president said in February. “They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money, and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people.”
Prior to this, the US president declared his intention to replace the EB-5 immigrant investment visa program, which grants green cards to foreign nationals who pledge to invest in US companies. The goal of the 1990s-era EB-5 program, which is run by USCIS, was to stimulate “the US economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors.” Trump used the gold card to emphasize a similar objective.
