So far this summer, So Nyeo Shi Dae (SNSD) – better known as Girls’ Generation – has dominated anticipation in the K-pop music scene. They first started building said anticipation for their return as an eight-member group on their social media accounts back in Spring. Next, they tied-up any loose-end rumors and gossip pertaining to the departure of Jessica Jung . Finally, they declared K-pop war against their biggest rival, Wonder Girls , who recently announced their return last month. All in all, Girls’ Generation is on top of their game, making sure the K-pop community, as well as Sones (their fans) in general, yearn for what they have next after the release of “Party.”
Apparently, the aforementioned is not enough for Girls’ Generation, wanting to stay in the limelight. Ergo, they are starring in a new reality program made specifically for them titled Channel Girl’ Generation . And now, the first preview for it has been released.
The preview was uploaded on a YouTube page featuring numerous videos of Girls’ Generation presented in live specials by Naver, Mnet, and other Korean channels, krisbrows8 . The preview is attached below for viewing.
Though every member of Girls’ Generation have appeared (or starred) in K-variety (reality) shows before, there wasn’t one where all eight members were featured , as reported by AllKpop . That is what Channel Girls’ Generation will do on OnStyle. Sones will be able to witness all eight members produce their own content, primarily videos on whatever interests them. The show is also a competition in which the members will “battle it out” to earn the most views.
It also appears Girls’ Generation was highly-favored by Channel Girls’ Generation ‘s production team, in which they provided a statement.
“In the meeting, the girls poured many ideas as if they were just waiting to share them, showing that they were motivated which we made us surprised and thankful. It will be a program that shows the personalities, individualities, tastes and lifestyles of the girls through contents that they created themselves.”
The first episode for Channel Girls’ Generation will air on July 21, 2015 at 9 p.m. KST on OnStyle. No information is available if it will air outside of South Korea. If it does, it will most likely be available on either DramaFever or Viki.
