‘Bachelorette’ Star Ben Zorn Arrested For Shoplifting, Says It Was ‘An Honest Mistake’

Bachelorette contestant Ben Zorn has a rap sheet, but it’s nowhere near as long as Bachelor Chris Soules or Bachelor in Paradise star Jade Roper ‘s criminal records. In fact, Zorn eventually had the petty theft charges dropped and did 20 hours of community service to make up for his wrongdoing.

What did Ben steal? According to Radar Online , the hunky personal trainer was arrested in 2009 for attempting to steal a textbook from the San Jose State bookstore. The book had a price tag of $127 on it, and Ben reportedly left after removing the price tag from the book — and it was all caught on tape by campus security.

Anyone who has had to pay for college textbooks knows how ridiculously expensive they are, so perhaps that sticker shock prompted his attempted theft. Whatever the reason, he admitted to making an “honest mistake” after his arrest and all charges were dropped after he completed court-ordered community service.

Ben’s brush with the law is in the past, and he’s certainly one of the show’s most respectable contestants. Aside from the fans who root for him on Twitter during the show, host Chris Harrison tells Yahoo TV that the 26-year-old personal trainer is a “sweet, good man who has a big heart.”

Will his big heart win over Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe?

(Spoilers ahead)

Early on in the season, Zorn won a rose on the first group date of the season — the boxing date. He went on to score a one-on-one date on Episode 3, where he got another rose for putting up with Kaitlyn’s fear of birds during a date that was based on the Fear Factor show.

Last week, viewers saw Ben on the rap battle group date. He went up against Tanner Tolbert and wrote more of a rhyme than a rap.

“1, 2, 3, 8 / I’m gonna knock you out like a first date / This, me? Naturally / Even with steroids you won’t look like me.”

Ben didn’t get the group date rose, and it’s hard to remember who did because Nick Viall came on the scene during that segment. Needless to say, the guys then spent their time talking about Nick instead of Kaitlyn, something that will happen right up until the final rose ceremony .

Unfortunately, Ben’s connection with Kaitlyn fizzles out after Nick arrives. According to previous report from the Inquisitr , Zorn makes it to Ireland but is eliminated during the Week 6 rose ceremony.

Watch the Bachelorette Season 11 on Monday night’s at 8 p.m. ET. on ABC.
