This year, the former model wore an off-white, double-breasted trench coat to the annual Easter Egg Roll conducted at the White House. The outfit was designed by a Canadian label named Mackage. The coat, reportedly costing $1,890, was deemed inappropriate for the occasion.
The outfit dulled in comparison to even the outfit she wore at her first Easter Egg roll as the First Lady. In 2017, Melania opted for a pink dress from Hervé Pierre that made her stand out from the crowd. The year after that, she wore a blue cashmere jacket from Burberry that was perfect for the occasion.

Melania’s outfit became a major talking point during Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony. The First Lady went with an ensemble that could best be described as unconventional for a FLOTUS. The 55-year-old wore a navy blue silk wool double-breasted coat and a matching pencil skirt.
She paired the ensemble with black leather gloves and black stiletto heels. The outfit designed by a New York-based designer, Adam Lippes, was paired with a boater hat that received harsh criticism.

The bold fashion choice earned Melania brutal trolling from netizens who questioned her fashion choice. Many compared her to famous singer Michael Jackson while calling her a “smooth criminal.” While the others drew parallels between her and a fictional character.
Netizens were quick to compare her with the Hamburglar, the antagonist in the McDonald’s franchise. TV show host Jimmy Fallon even made fun of the First Lady on air by saying that she stole the Hamburglar’s look.
Fashion stylist Amanda Sanders assessed the look and deemed it inappropriate for the occasion. “I feel like it’s a happy occasion, and what she’s wearing seems too dark and understated,” Sanders told The U.S. Sun.
The time Donald Trump outdressed Melania
The FLOTUS’s outfit at the National Governors Association Evening Dinner and Reception caused quite the buzz. Melania appeared in an almost identical outfit to her husband’s as the two showed up to the event.
Donald Trump looked sharp in a black tuxedo and a crisp button-down. Melania appeared to wear an outfit very similar to her husband’s. Just that her’s appeared to be much plainer, ill-fitted, and shabby.

The First Lady wore tailored cigarette pants that stopped at her ankles. She also wore a plain white button-down that wasn’t tucked in properly and was slightly pulled out. Her collar also added to the unkempt appearance as it stuck out. The unfortunate outfit made Trump look much more put together, while it did the exact opposite for the FLOTUS.
