Katy Perry apparently has a role model in Jackie O.
The Roar singer showed up for a date with boyfriend John Mayer wearing a dress that was the spitting image of the pink Chanel suit that the former First Lady wore on the day her husband John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
The two were out on a dinner date in London, and they had such a spot-on interpretation of JFK and Jackie O that it was hard to tell the couple had a coordinated Halloween costume or were just big fans of the Kennedys’ fashion style.
Jackie O’s pink Chanel suit and trademark pillbox hat became an emblem of the JFK assassination. After her husband was killed, Jackie O insisted on wearing the blood-stained suit during for Lyndon B. Johnson’s swearing-in on the flight back to Washington, D.C. with the president’s body.
Caroline Kennedy, the Kennedy’s sole surviving heir, later placed a 100-year deed to keep the suit in storage at the National Archives. After the deed expires in 2103 the Kennedy family descendents will re-negotiate to again keep the suit under wraps.
Apparently no one told Katy Perry.
The London dinner date comes as insiders say Katy and John have gotten very serious. Several sources say they two are considering getting married sometime very soon, and Katy has been effusive in her praise of John.
“I’ve been a fan of John’s for years before I got to actually kiss him,” she said at the MTV Video Music Awards. “But I’ve been such a fan, I think he’s so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter.”
The two have had an on-again off-again relationship, but since getting back together in July have reportedly gotten serious very quickly. Though recording and touring often keep the two apart, sources say they connect through Skype as often as possible. They apparently also connect over their love of the Kennedys’ fashion style.
