Officer Arrested After SUV Biker Attack

An officer has been arrested after the SUV biker attack in New York City. Apparently, he did more than just watch as the whole ordeal played out before him. The off-duty officer is accused of getting involved, but not the way he should have.

After biker Christopher Cruz cut in front of Alexian Lien’s SUV, causing him to hit his bike, the resulting chaos became a spectacle from almost every angle. Alexian Lien’s wife was also attacked, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, and the off-duty officer was accused of doing nothing to help anyone. At least, that was the story he gave three days later.

As if all of this wasn’t enough, the SUV crushed an aspiring rapper as he attempted to stop the other bikers from attacking Alexian Lien and his family. The accident left the man hospitalized and potentially paralyzed.

The arrested off-duty officer apparently did do something in the SUV biker attack, and sources say that he avoided acting on his professional duties for fear of blowing his undercover status. He was actually caught on the same video as the rest, smashing the SUV’s rear window with his fist.

The consequences of not only this, but lying about even being involved, could lead to a sentence of up to 25 years. The simple damage alone could earn him up to seven years, while NYPD Internal Affairs may want to nail the off-duty officer for something much more severe. They are simply waiting for enough evidence to stick. For now, the officer is assigned to desk duty and awaiting charges.

If charged with gang assault, the off-duty officer could face the full extent of the sentencing for his involvement in the SUV biker attack. Because the Range Rover had tinted windows, it was unlikely that the arrested officer even knew that a two year old girl was in the back seat, so any charges involving her could stem only from possible hospital bills.

The SUV biker attack now has another arrest, an officer who allegedly lied about doing nothing.
