Anna Malova: Miss Russia Charges Dismissed

Anna Malova, the former Miss Russia, has had her charges dismissed after a string of incidents in New York. The beauty queen has apparently learned her lesson.

After two years of treatment for drug abuse, Anna Malova realizes her error after her theft of prescription pads and medical supplies cost her the title of Miss Russia won in 1998. In a string of incidents which might have rivaled that of Lindsay Lohan in the long run, the Russian beauty had some trouble with rehab which landed her in jail for a month in 2011. Then she was also caught hoarding pills while in treatment.

What started the whole mess, you might ask? Those prescription pads were used to steal pain and anti-anxiety drugs over a dozen times.

Former Miss Russia Anna Malova’s charges were dismissed, though, when she successfully finished her two years of rehab, albeit with a few hiccups. Prosecutors had wanted her to spend more time there, but the court decided that Anna Malova, 42, had learned her lesson. In May, the former Miss Russia had tested positive for Xanax and Klonopin, but the legal system has made its mind up.

Only time will tell if she is truly past that stage in her life.

After her verdict Tuesday, achieved with help from defense lawyer Robert Gottlieb, Judge Richard Weinberg congratulated her along with a certificate, “This is a great accomplishment, you should be very proud of yourself.”

Blonde beauty Anna Malova stated:

“I was lost and made a mistake but I’ve learned my lesson. It’s been difficult this whole process but it took me to sobriety and to a place where I can function and be a productive member of society.”

Charges dismissed, the former Miss Russia Anna Malova is finding it hard to get back to work with all of the publicity surrounding her ordeal. Could her employment troubles mark the beginning of another possible relapse?

Only time will tell.
