How Anti-Gay Is Russia? Propaganda Film Says Children Of Gay Couples Are Rape Slaves

Everybody knows that Russia is pretty anti-gay, but to demonstrate exactly how anti-gay the country is, one needs to look no further than a new propaganda video produced in support of anti-gay legislation currently sitting before the Russian parliament.

Essentially, it says that gays and lesbians adopt children so that they can eventually rape them.

The video bases its claims on shaky data from a controversial study performed by an American sociologist which merely concluded that the children of gay couples are generally worse off than the children of heterosexual couples. The study didn’t go as far as the video, but even still, it was widely criticized for bad methodology and data that doesn’t support the study’s conclusions.

The video cites the study, and claims that one-third of gay couples rape their own children. The study, as we said, does not suggest such a thing.

The video was uploaded to YouTube last week, but later taken down at the behest of a gay parenting advocacy organization which claimed that clips from the video were their own and used without permission.

The video was seen as a propaganda film in support of a bill that is currently being considered by Russian parliament. It would require that children of gay parents be removed from their homes and put into orphanages.

“Of course [a lesbian parent] should definitely be deprived of her rights to the child,” the bill’s author said.

“Homosexuals must not raise children. They corrupt them. They do them much more harm than if the child were in an orphanage. I am deeply convinced of this.”
