Adam Levine's recent Twitter rant resulted in a feud with fellow musician Lady Gaga.
Although the Maroon 5 singer didn't mention the controversial performer by name, she apparently thought he was tossing some barbs in her general direction. It didn't take long for the exchange to fascinate the pair's fans and followers.
"Ugh. Recycling old art for a younger generation doesn't make you an artist It makes you an art teacher," Adam Levine said in a recent post.
He continued, "I unabashedly love writing and performing pop music for both myself and everyone around me. That's It. It doesn't need any extra sauce."
Although Adam Levine didn't call out Lady Gaga specifically, she seemed to think the Voice star was talking about her. Not one to sit idly by while someone disrespects her art, the singer decided to respond to the Maroon 5 frontman's tweet.
"Uh oh guys the art police is here," she tweeted.
The "Applause" singer definitely has her fair share of detractors. Not only has she been accused of lifting her style from Marilyn Manson, many fans felt there were simply too many similarities between "Born this Way" and Madonna's 1989 tune "Express Yourself."
"I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song. I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting," Madonna explained during a 2012 interview.
Although he "appreciates" her style, shock rocker Marilyn Manson said last year that he had a hard time listening to Lady Gaga's music.
"I like the general idea of what she's about. I have a hard time liking her music; it's just not the style of music I like. And I like a lot of music that is in that vein; I like Kylie Minogue sometimes... I like Justin Timberlake over Lady Gaga, just musically," he told MTV News.
Are you a fan of Adam Levine? What do you think about the singer possibility taking a few shots at Lady Gaga on Twitter? Was the Maroon 5 frontman out of line?
