The NFL will sell $200 non seats to Dallas Super Bowl

This one is a puzzler. The NFL will sell 200 tickets to the Dallas Cowboys “Party Plaza” not for a seat but to watch the game on a very large TV. I will be enjoying the game in my man cave, the very best seat in my house, for free. I really wonder if there are enough people to take part in this. I wonder how many people would shell out 200 bucks to watch a game that is on free TV. In fact most things about this announcement make me wonder.

Sure the Super Bowl for most is a once in a life time event, and where ever it goes people want to take part. When the big game was in my home town I also could not get tickets and found myself downtown close to the action, but I did not spend 200 dollars for the right to do so, no I dropped my money along with my friends at a sports bar close to where the game was being played. We did not pay 200 bucks for the pleaure of buying 9 dollar beers.

Here is the real point. If the NFL can sell 200 dollar tickets to sit and watch the game on TV, and the Dallas Super Bowl blows away attendance records (which it is likely to do) how will the league claim that they have to give the players a smaller piece of a larger pie? Seriously, if people are willing to pay to watch a game on free TV the NFL pie can be grown as large as the owners want. If that is true, there is no logical reason to give the players less.
