Sandra Bullock, one of the most recognizable names in the movie industry, is being honored for her stellar career at the 17th Annual Hollywood Film Awards.
The actress, who is very well liked by audiences in pretty much anything she’s done, is currently promoting her latest film, the space drama Gravity in which she stars opposite her old pal George Clooney.
Bullock’s career spans the better part of four decades from the time she made her debut in Hangmen(1987). Since then she has seeped into America’s subconsciousness with her easy ways and down to earth personality.
This beloved actress has had a very prolific career and has been cast in anything from comedies to dramas. The honor she will receive is the culmination of her extremely productive and lucrative years.
As time has gone by, Sandra Bullock has cemented herself as one of the top American actresses, not only liked by audiences but by movie studios because of her natural talents.
Some of her best known films are Speed (1994), While You Were Sleeping (1995), The Net (1995), A Time To Kill (1996), Miss Congeniality (2000), Two Weeks Notice (2002), Premonition (2007), The Proposal (2009), The Blind Side (2009), and The Heat (2013).
Sandra Bullock can still fill seats with her movies as she did this past summer with The Heat in which she stars with Melissa McCarthy. The movie was well received by the public and critics alike.
In her new space drama, Gravity, she plays Dr. Ryan Stone, who along with her partner, Matt Kowalsky (Clooney), become marooned after their shuttle suffers an accident while in orbit.
There is almost general consensus, after the Alfonso Cuaron film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, that this could earn Sandra Bullock a second Oscar nomination. She received an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for The Blind Side.
Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive director of the Hollywood Film Awards, stated:
We are honored to present the Hollywood Actress Award to Sandra for her outstanding work in Gravity. Holding the screen alone for a large part of the film, she delivers a stunning and emotionally layered performance that shows once again why she is one of Hollywood’s most respected and popular actresses.
Sandra Bullock will receive the Hollywood Actress Award at a ceremony taking place on October 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, according The Hollywood Reporter.
