‘Poltergeist’ Reboot Adds Jared Harris, Nicholas Braun

The upcoming Poltergeist reboot continues to build up steam over at MGM.

Although casting details were few and far between just a few weeks ago, it would appear that the studio is making quite a bit of progress. According to various reports, producers have already landed some talented actors and actresses to help bring the project to life.

The Wrap is currently reporting that Perks of Being a Wallflower alum Nicholas Braun has been tapped to star in the proposed Poltergeist reboot. Sources told the website that the young star will have a significant role in the feature.

According to the folks at Deadline, Mad Men cast member Jared Harris has signed on for a role in the horror flick as well. The busy actor will play a “TV personality who left the world of academia behind to become the star host of basic cable TV show ‘Haunted House Cleaners.'”

In other words, Harris’ character will likely be summoned by the Bowens to help them out with their supernatural issues. Harris recently appeared in the big-screen adaptation of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. He’s also attached to star in Paul W.S. Anderson’s Pompeii.

Variety, meanwhile, is reporting that The Following star Kyle Catlett has also joined the Poltergeist reboot. All of these recent additions to the cast will be joined by Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt in Gil Kenan’s version of the tale.

Fans of producer Steven Spielberg and director Tobe Hooper’s classic 1982 horror flick have been more than a little anxious about the reboot. Since many of us remember being absolutely terrified by the experience as kids, some fans are wondering if Kenan and crew can recapture the magic of the original. The cast might offer a glimmer of hope.

MGM and 20th Century Fox are hoping to begin production on the Poltergeist reboot very soon. Chances are the flick will arrive in theaters at some point during 2014.
