Gia Allemand’s boyfriend, New Orleans Pelicans forward Ryan Anderson, has spoken out about his girlfriend’s suicide.
Anderson was the one who found Allemand hanging in her New Orleans home Monday night. She was rushed to University Hospital in critical condition and placed on life support, which was removed Wednesday. She died after a critical loss of brain and organ function. Anderson was at her bedside when she died, along with her mother and friends.
“I’m deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends and fans. Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile,” Anderson said in a statement.
“She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared,” he added.
Allemand’s family spokesman said that, as a practicing Christian, the 29-year-old received “the sacrament of last rites.”
The family also said in the statement, “Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets.”
The family has said that funeral arrangements will be revealed in an official statement once the details are available.
Several Bachelor and Bachelorette alum also spoke out about Allemand’s death on Twitter.
