Gia Allemand: ‘Bachelor’ Contestant On Life Support, Barely Breathing, Friend Says
Gia Allemand has been rushed to a hospital in New Orleans after suffering what doctors describe as “a serious emergency medical event,” and a friend of the Bachelor contestant says the situation looks grim.
While there have been few reports in the media about her condition, someone identified as a friend of Gia has posted updates on Twitter that paint the situation as dire. The friend, Melinda Farina, posted on update to Twitter on Monday that said Gia was fighting for her life.
“@GiaAllemand is on life support w little pulse and barely breathing..cause unknown..next 48 hours critical please pray for Gia everyone”
The 29-year-old Allemand was brought to University Hospital on Monday night, and was listed in critical condition. Doctors did not say more about her condition, and a representative for Allemand asked for privacy.
“On behalf of the family, we kindly ask for privacy at this time,” the statement said. “Further statements will be released as more information becomes available.”
The representative said Gia Allemand has been joined by her mother and boyfriend Ryan Anderson, who plays for the New Orleans Pelicans.
Allemand first competed on Season 14 of The Bachelor, and after being turned down by Jake Pavelka she appeared on the first two season of the spinoff Bachelor Pad.
Pavelka sent a message of support to Gia Allemand on Tuesday, tweeting: “Please pray for @GiaAllemand… A dear friend and one of the sweetest women I know… #powerofprayer.”
Ali Fedotowsky, who competed alongside Gia on Season 14 before leaving the show, also sent a supportive message.
Please keep @GiaAllemand in your thoughts today. She’s in critical condition. That’s all I know. Love you Gia. http://t.co/OzMXtw9UwC
