Abigail Breslin will join Arnold Schwarzenegger in the upcoming horror flick Maggie.
The latest entry is the severely bloated zombie genre finds the young actress portraying The Terminator star’s undead daughter. Writer John Scott penned the script, which was discovered on The Black List.
Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, Matt Baer, Trevor Kaufman, Colin Bates, and Joey Tufaro will produce the flick alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Director Henry Hobson will helm the project.
Here’s the official logline for the endeavor:
As a ‘walking dead’ virus spreads across the country, a farm family helps their eldest daughter come to terms with her infection as she slowly becomes a flesh-eating zombie.
Kick-Ass 2 star Chloe Grace Moretz was originally up for the lead role in Maggie. However, scheduling conflicts ultimately forced the actress to bail on the project. The part ended up going to Abigail Breslin instead.
This isn’t the first time the Little Miss Sunshine star has dealt with a zombie apocalypse. The young actress previously starred in director Ruben Fleischer’s acclaimed 2009 horror-comedy Zombieland. However, Breslin could find herself on the other end of the chainsaw this time around.
Maggie isn’t the only thriller Breslin is currently attached to at the moment. She recently wrapped up director Tyler Shields’ Final Girl with Wes Bentley and Alexander Ludwig. The actress will also star in Wicked Blood alongside Alexa Vega and Sean Bean.
However, Abigail Breslin’s next big flick is Gavin Hood’s adaptation of the classic Orson Scott Card novel Ender’s Game. The sci-fi tale features an all-star cast including Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, and True Grit star Hailee Steinfeld.
As for Schwarzenegger, the action hero is currently slated to appear in The Expendables 3 alongside fellow 80s star Sylvester Stallone. The duo can be found next in the prison thriller The Escape Plan.
