The latest image featuring Alexa Vega in director Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills suggests that the Spy Kids star is all grown up.
According to Worst Preview , Vega will portray a tough as nails character by the name of KillJoy in the upcoming sequel. In order to get tongues wagging and pulses racing, the studio has released the stunning image you see embedded below.
Another image currently making the rounds features Drive Angry co-star Amber Heard straddling Danny Trejo while wearing a Miss San Antonio sash. The images suggest that Rodriguez isn’t going to shy away from sexy women and saucy situations. This image has been included below as well.
Internet Movie Database describes the plot as follows:
“The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space.”
In addition to Alexa Vega, Amber Heard, and star Danny Trejo, Machete Kills features Sofia Vergara, Mel Gibson, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Vanessa Hudgens, Antonio Banderas, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Lady Gaga.
With a budget of roughly $10 million, Planet Terror director Robert Rodriguez’s 2010 action flick Machete went on to earn a modest $24 million at the North American box office. The film’s worldwide total currently stands at $44 million. While not an overwhelming success in theaters, the film has become something of a cult favorite on DVD and Blu-ray.
Following her success in Rodriguez’s Spy Kids films, the actress made the transition from family fare to more mature endeavors. In 2008 she starred in the cult horror-musical Repo! The Genetic Opera . Alexa Vega is also slated to appear in Kevin Konrad Hanna’s animated feature The Clockwork Girl , Dylan Baker’s 23 Blast , and Rob Margolies’ thriller 2 Br/1 Ba .
