Annie Meyer has been found dead, five months after her mysterious disappearance. The remains of LeAnn “Annie” Meyer were discovered in Park County, Colorado on July 4. Police have now stated that her roommate Melissa Miller is a person of interest.
Officials have attempted to question Miller, as she was the last person to see Meyer alive. She stated that she gave Meyer a ride to meet with a woman named Cathy and never saw her again.
As reported by Denver Channel, Meyer’s friends secretly recorded a confrontation with Miller, as they suspect she is hiding something. The recording was obtained before Meyer’s body was found.
In the recording, Miller stated that Meyer was not feeling well and had a bloody nose inside the vehicle before she dropped her off.
Police have stated that Meyer’s remains were recovered from a remote location. They suspect her body was hidden in the woods for months.
Wheat Ridge Police Commander Dave Pickett discusses the ongoing investigation:
“We certainly have developed leads and obviously we’re interested in Melissa Miller … She is a person of interest for us at this time … Our ability to speak with her is nonexistent.”
As reported by the Denver Post, Miller has retained an attorney and invoked her Fifth Amendment rights. Despite her statement in the recording, she has refused to cooperate with authorities.
For Annie Meyer’s friends and family, the discovery of her body was “bittersweet.” Tammy Haselhorst, a friend, discusses the mixed emotions:
“It makes me feel better that she’s not laying out there alone. And now we just need to see someone come to justice for this.”
Meyer’s family traveled from Minnesota to Colorado on Monday. Jefferson County District Attorney spokeswoman, Pam Russell, explains that the family now has a sense of closure. She further states that “everybody’s ready for the next stage.”
Annie Meyer’s family and friends continue to mourn her mysterious death as authorities proceed with their investigation.
