Strange if true: Woman becomes sex addict after Wii Fit fall?

A newswire story that sports a few hoax-y elements about a woman who fell off a Wii Fit balance board and ended up with a massive sex addiction has been picked up by “weird news” and gaming blogs today.

The woman in question is 24-year-old Amanda Flowers from the UK. (While “Flowers” isn’t an uncommon surname, it does seem suspect that a woman with a natural born porn name would be afflicted with this sex-obsessive injury.) The story seems to have stemmed from the UK’s Daily Star, in an article entitled Nintendo Wii Made Me Nympho! Flowers is said to have been diagnosed with the documented condition persistent sexual arousal syndrome, and the woman, a catering worker, allegedly has difficulty with constantly being aroused by everyday household objects like vibrating cell phones and food processors. (Ouch.)

Flowers says:

“It began as a twinge down below before surging through my body. Sometimes it built up into a trembling orgasm.”

Prognosis and treatment are addressed in the article as well:

“With no cure I just have to try to control my passion by breathing deeply. Hopefully one day I’ll find a superstud who can satisfy me.”

No identifying information is offered in the article, save for the woman being from the town of Harpurhey in Manchester.
