Evangeline Lilly plays one of the few female characters in The Hobbit, the adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien fantasy novel of the same name which is being brought to the big screen by director Peter Jackson.
The first official photo of the elf Tauriel has surfaced via EW.com and we can see she has bright red hair and looks very beautiful in her costume. Very Robin Hood-ish. “Tauriel is the head of the Elven Guard. She’s a Sylvan Elf… She will definitely have a love story,” Lilly explains.
First Showing.net is also reporting that the first trailer of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will run in front of Man of Steel, just in time for the summer season and before San Diego Comic Con.
We are expecting to, once again, have a Hobbit panel at the comic book convention to be held in July. This should be exciting news for fans since many of the new characters were not present at the convention last year when Unexpected Journey was previewed.
Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman and Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel are some of the actors that might be present this time around.
Production for The Hobbit trilogy is currently being filmed on location in New Zealand and is expected to last until next month as reported by director Peter Jackson.
The major scene that is left to shoot is the battle of the five armies, which should be quite epic if the first installment was any indication. Most of the cast from Unexpected Journey has returned to film for this last portion.
The Hobbit is the prequel to the popular trilogy The Lord of the Rings which was also directed by Jackson and has many of the same cast reprising their roles.
The story is set 60 years prior to the events in The Lord of the Rings when the hobbit (Martin Freeman) sets out on an adventure to help the company of dwarves take back their home in Erebor.
The Desolation of Smaug with Evangeline Lilly hits the big screens next December 13th.
