‘The Expendables 3’ Will Hit Theaters Next Summer

The Expendables 3 is all set to explode across the big screen next summer.

The next installment of Sylvester Stallone’s franchise is slated to arrive next August. Although filming has yet to begin, Lionsgate seems hopeful that everything will wrapped up by this point.

According to Box Office Mojo, The Expendables 3 should hit theaters on August 15, 2015. The follow-up has the weekend to itself for the time being. However, that could change at any moment.

Stallone is still busy trying to get people to sign on for the project. While certain actors have already committed to the project — Wesley Snipes was approached as soon as he stepped outside of prison — others are still in talks with producers about joining up.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Stallone is seriously pursuing both Nicolas Cage and star Milla Jovovich for roles in the upcoming flick. The Resident Evil star could be the “young Sigourney Weaver” he wrote about in a recent Twitter post.

Stallone is also anxious to get Jackie Chan to participate in the next Expendables. Advanced negotiations are said to be underway, though nothing about their involvement with the project has been confirmed as of this writing. It’s also a mystery is Steven Seagal will find time in his busy schedule to help out with the project.

Patrick Hughes, who spearheaded the amazing Australian thriller Red Hill, will step behind the camera for The Expendables 3. Early reports suggested that Simon West would return for the sequel, but the director is actually busy with his own projects for the time being. West is currently shooting Heat with Jason Statham and Sofia Vergara.

Before all of this goes down, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear together in Shanghai director Mikael Hafstrom’s Escape Plan (formerly The Tomb). The thriller is expected to arrive in theaters on October 18.
