Cookie Monster Arrested For Shoving Child In Times Square

There are two things you should never do to Cookie Monster: Take away his cookies and refuse to give him a tip.

According to the NY Post, a man dressed in a Cookie Monster outfit was arrested in Times Square this weekend for pushing a2-year-old to the ground.

The physical altercation allegedly involved a little kid, a mom from Connecticut, and one angry Cookie Monster. (It does not appear that any cookies were involved.)

Gothamist reports that Osvaldo Quiroz-Lopez, 33, was walking around Times Square on Sunday in a Cookie Monster costume. The man was taking pictures with tourists and then demanding a tip for the photo. When the Connecticut woman refused to pay $2 for the photo, Cookie Monster got angry and started cursing.

He allegedly pushed the child to the ground and started yelling at the woman.

He was eventually arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

This isn’t the first time one of the Muppets has gotten into trouble off of Sesame Street. Cookie Monster is wanted for the theft of a giant cookie statue, and Elmo was arrested at Times Square last year. But the Muppets aren’t the only trouble makers. Super Mario was also put behind bars after a trip to Times Square.
