FBI Visits Petraeus’ Home For Interview [Report]

The FBI visited David Petraeus‘ home for an interview, according to two government officials. Petraeus, a former general, resigned as the head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) last year.

The former general gave up the post after it was revealed that he had an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.

The reported interview with the FBI was part of an investigation into whether Broadwell received classified information or if the documents she saw were in an unauthorized place.

FBI agents reportedly sat down with Petraeus at his home on Friday, though the organization would not comment on the supposed interview. The investigation into Broadwell and Petraeus is ongoing and taking a long time to complete.

In responding to the claims of an interview with Petraeus, CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood stated, “The (CIA) does not comment on active investigations. The CIA is fully cooperating with the FBI.” The FBI also had no comment on the possibility.

Jacqueline Maguire, a spokeswoman for the bureau, stated that agents conducted law enforcement activity in northern Virginia. Petraeus lives in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C.

David Petraeus’ resignation shocked the CIA and the nation. The former Army general, who led troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, was thought to be a potential contender for the White House. He resigned shortly after his affair with Broadwell came to light. The resignation was also shortly after the terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans, including US Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Agents looked through Paula Broadwell’s home in November, removing some materials as part of the FBI probe. Both Broadwell and David Petraeus have already talked to investigators. Both have said separately that they did not share security secrets.

David Petraeus is credited with helping to pull Iraq from the brink of civil war. He also led forces in Afghanistan before he was nominated as CIA director by President Obama in 2011. It is not yet clear the results of the supposed interview with the FBI at Petraeus’ home.
