Topless ‘Bee Queen’ Dancer Swarmed By 12,000 Honey Bees [Video]

Portland, OR — The “Bee Queen,” a.k.a. Sara Mapelli, dances with bees.

Mapelli, an energy healer, allows bees to crawl all over her body for two hours at a time as a form of deep meditation (see video below). She’s apparently been doing this high-risk method of relaxation since 2001.

The Bee Queen explains the bee-swarming process on her website: “These 12,000 bees push with their powerful wings from each side of my body, I resist and then I let go and flow and move with them. It is a deep meditation and I feel the hive mind surround me, hold me, and expand my body on a cellular level. I am a healer, dancer, artist, builder of structures and bee keeper. As bee keepers, my partner, Theodore and I hope to help the bees of the northwest by encouraging them to swarm and become hardy in the ever changing environment.”

The Bee Queen goes topless during this meditative technique, and the bees hang from her hair, chin, breasts and back, and invade her armpits.

In a recent interview, Mapelli the bee dancer said that the first layer of the 12,000 bees have to “bite” to stay on her body, which she admits is extremely painful. But apparently it gets better from there. “Slowly the pain changes into an underlying high frequency that merges into the buzzing of the bees. The bees start to push her body with their wings and sing and they dance her.”

Mapelli further describes the trance-like state that dancing with bees all over her body creates: “Dancing with bees is like seeing the outside of your body magnified and your cells expanded into a painful tornado. Dancing with bees is like being inside a true whirlwind of precise communication. Dancing with bees is a ‘duetting,’ that is, a creation of a new type of duet between the one and the many that dissolves fear, gravity, language, ego and time.”

Do you think you could achieve relaxation if your body was covered with thousands of honey bees?
