‘Draw Something 2’ Is Coming Soon

Draw Something 2 will soon be available for people who loved the original game. Draw Something was a huge hit in its heyday, once even climbing to the top of the charts of the most popular game on Facebook. Ryan Seacrest of all people actually tweeted the news about the sequel coming to your social media and mobile devices in the very near future.

The American Idol star issued a tweet where he said “I somehow convinced them to give me #DrawSomething2 first …” Seacrest then put up a sketch of two of the show’s judges obviously sketched out using the application and the caption “this may be the best Mariah & Randy have ever looked.”

Almost immediately after Seacrest sent out his tweat, OMGPOP CEO Dan Porter issued a tweet of his own. His tweet was in response to Seacrest and said “thanks! So excited to confirm #DrawSomething2 is coming soon.”

Porter’s tweet included a picture of the logo for the new game. OMGPOP was a mega star in the social media and mobile device gaming world when they released the original.

The company was eventually snapped up by Zynga and almost immediately saw their popularity start to fall. While the original game has seen the popularity fade, OMGPOP and Zynga recently announced that the app has still seen over 100 million downloads and 11 billion drawings since Draw Something was released.

Draw Something 2 could also be a nice lead-in to the game’s debut on network television. Seacrest is working on bringing the mobile game as a new kind of gameshow sometime this fall.

The CBS show will pit contestants against one another in front of a studio audience. The game will also be playable along at home and viewers will have a chance to win prizes of their own.

Draw Something 2 doesn’t have an official release date yet but expect it to hit the market pretty quickly.
