Brendan Fraser is “broke” and is asking for reduced alimony and child support payments. The Mummy star was once a huge Hollywood box office draw, but is now claiming he can no longer afford the court mandated payments.
The 44-year-old actor was once worth $45 million, according to Radar Online . Fraser is currently one of the stars s in Escape from Planet Earth , an animated movie. The George of the Jungle leading man reportedly asked a Connecticut court to reduce his annual alimony payment to Afton Smith because he can’t afford to pay the bill. Fraser reportedly pays Smith $900,000 per year.
Afton Smith and Brendan Fraser settled their divorce in 2009. Smith feels that her ex-husband is hiding money from her, according to the Daily Mail . Although he agreed to the specified alimony payments at the time, he now maintains he isn’t earning the big Hollywood bucks he once did.
The couple reportedly met during a backyard BBQ in 1993 at Winona Ryder’s house. The romance apparently began blooming not long after Fraser moved to Los Angeles. Brandon Fraser has three boys with Afton Smith – Leland,6, Holden, 8, and Griffin, 10.
During the court proceeding, Fraser cited a multiple medical issues as the reason his career appears to have hit a plateau. The Mummy star is also currently embroiled in a legal tussle with producer Todd Moyer. Fraser is accused of physical attacking the producer in 2012. Brendan was the first to start the court paperwork shuffling when he filed a lawsuit against Moyer. The suit claims the producer delayed production on a movie in which Fraser was slated to appear.
