Looks like it’s a boy for Kara DioGuardi. The ex Idol judge and Grammy nominated songwriter will be welcoming her first child with husband Mike McCuddy.
Kara also revealed that she’s having a boy and also has a name picked out already. In an interview with PEOPLE, DioGuardi released a statement saying: “We are eagerly awaiting the healthy and happy birth of our son Greyson James Carroll McCuddy.”
It is said that Kara and Mike had issues with fertility for a few years. The couple, who wed in 2009, has tried multiple times with IVF attempts.
DioGuardi, 42, went on to talk about the decision about using a surrogate, telling PEOPLE, “We made a personal decision to try with a surrogate. I asked someone we knew, a friend. And on the first try, it worked.”
The songwriter continued, explaining the support she has for her surrogate, who at this point is unknown to the public. “I’ve got two people on my mind: her and the baby. She’s given us this incredible gift.”
Previously to being open about her troubles of conceiving, Kara DioGuardi was open about another troubled period. Back in 2010 the songwriter spoke about her Binge Eating Disorder, saying:
“The moment I started doing music, the moment I did what I loved to do in my life and committed to it, I don’t have those problems anymore. I have that form of expression. I can go to the studio and talk about my feelings.”
Perhaps Kara will pen a few songs about her baby boy.
